I began practicing yoga over twenty years ago, initially drawn to the physicality of the practice. It soon became evident that there was much more to it. I had no intention of becoming a teacher when I attended my first yoga teacher training in 2000; my goal was to deepen my practice. Since then, I have been a committed student and teacher of yoga, completing four more teacher trainings and countless workshops. I have been fortunate to have had extraordinary teachers along the way, including senior teachers Sarah Powers, Annie Carpenter, Maty Ezraty, Tias Little, Nikki Estrada, and others.
My style is a blend, combining fluid Vinyasa-based yoga and some deep holds while emphasizing proper alignment, intelligent sequencing, and attention to breath.
Deepening one’s practice has less to do with achieving complicated poses than with our approach to the practice and what that reveals. Yoga is a practice that, like life, ebbs and flows. We move our bodies with intention and attention to the breath, and we feel better both physically and energetically. We become better at tracking sensations, thoughts, and emotions. We may feel stronger in our bodies, as well as in our minds. This process is both humbling and rewarding.
The yogic system can be used as a lens to refocus how we see and feel, to understand and accept who we truly are, and support a deeper journey, allowing us to be fully present for life.
I am grateful for the practice as a continuity in my life that keeps me curious, grounded, and able to see the blessings and beauty in the world.
With a background in education, a San Francisco native, a registered member of the Yoga Alliance and a mom, I welcome students at all levels.
